::The hospital of martyr Doctor Chamran was constructed in 1331 Hijri in an area of 9 hectares and 4 floors with 19879 square meters of infrastructure. At first, due to the favorable geographical conditions, this center was established for treatment of patients with tuberculosis. Then, over the time, the psychiatric ward was added. With regard to the appropriate space, the other wards were established: orthopedic wards, medical and surgical wards, rheumatology ward, physiotherapy, radiology, operation rooms, EKG, CSSD…It should be noted that during 8 years of war, this hospital provided valuable services to the victims and wounded of the war. In 1370 Hijri, this center continued its activities as an educational and treatment center under the supervision of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and a clinic was opened in the vicinity of the hospital. After a while, for more specialization , according to the decision of the authorities, some wards were moved from this hospital to the other centers of Shiraz University Including TB, psychiatric and medical wards. In 1376, MRI, CT scan and sonography were inaugurated. In 1374, the number of the beds in ER was increased. In 1378, the rehabilitation department was replaced with rheumatology and medical wards. There is a neurology ward in this center as well. In 137, neurosurgery ward, ICU, blood gas and another orthopedic ward were established. In 1393, the psycho-somatic ward was inaugurated. There are two research centers in this hospital: The Research Center of Bone and Joint Diseases and Shiraz Neuroscience Research Center. These centers have various activities and support holding of several international conferences. Finally, this center is not only a great pole for orthopedic and neurosurgery operations in the country but also in the region.
